My interview flow was pretty straightforward and leaned into both frontend fundamentals and a small practical coding task. I started with questions that tested basics like HTTP response meaning for specific status codes, the difference between stateful and stateless behavior, and how frontend and backend communicate.

Then I got a live coding problem where I had to build a calculator using string inputs. It wasn’t just about writing something that worked once—I had to handle the inputs in a way that made sense, and the interviewer followed up on my approach as I went.

My process centered on frontend work, and the recruiter was very explicit that the interview would test frontend knowledge—writing code to draw UI components. I went into it expecting UI-oriented problem solving rather than purely backend-style algorithms.

I also ended up with a separate frontend interview experience where I could solve two coding questions, but I missed on a couple technical questions, so the outcome felt shaky by the end. After that, I had another TikTok frontend-role conversation where the interviewer was professional, but the recruiter experience soured things for me and made the process feel unfair.
