A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn to see if I was interested, and I decided to go for it even though I knew it was going to be a multi-step process. The journey ended up feeling a lot longer and more exhausting than it needed to be: there was a recruiter screen, then a code pairing interview, followed by a technical interview, and finally a cultural fit and leadership round.
The interviews themselves were professional and I got the sense I did well, especially after the final conversation. What threw me off was the rejection. The feedback came back saying my experience didn’t line up with the company’s current project needs, even though my background was already clear on my resume and was also discussed during the recruiter stage. It was disappointing because it felt like that mismatch should have been caught earlier, before I’d invested time through multiple rounds.

Difficult Positive Bengaluru
My ThoughtWorks process started with an HR screening that was pretty much a profile check—basic validation that my background matched what they were looking for. After that, I moved into a technical round that leaned heavily into business scenarios, with questions handled by someone in a product leadership role.
Next was a case study round where they gave me a case in advance and expected me to step into a consultative mindset—talk through the problems and recommend solutions like I was advising. That round was led by a senior product manager, and it stood out as the most demanding part because it required more than just correct answers; I had to communicate like I was driving toward a recommendation. Afterward, there was a leadership and culture fit round. The themes went beyond normal behavioral prompts—there were questions touching on topics like social injustice, and how I’d maintained a team and made decisions in different scenarios.
