We evaluate all Software Engineer candidates across four core criteria:

Technical Excellence & System Design – We look for a deep understanding of computer science fundamentals, system architecture, and modern software development practices. You should be able to justify your architectural choices, explain trade-offs, and design systems that are secure, scalable, and resilient.

Problem-Solving & Ambiguity Resolution – Many of our projects start with open-ended requirements. We evaluate how you break down complex, ill-defined problems into structured, actionable phases and how you adapt when technical assumptions change.

Product & Business Acumen – Great engineers at The Misch Group build with the end-user in mind. You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of how your technical decisions impact the broader product roadmap and business goals.

Collaboration & Communication – Technical skills are only half the equation. We assess your ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, collaborate across teams, and contribute to a positive, inclusive engineering culture.

The interview process at The Misch Group is thorough and designed to give both you and our team a clear understanding of mutual alignment. We aim to keep the process transparent, efficient, and highly communicative.

Your journey begins with an initial conversation with a recruiter to discuss your background, career aspirations, and alignment with our team culture. Following this, you will complete a technical screen, which typically involves a hands-on coding assessment or a deep-dive technical discussion with a hiring manager. If you pass this stage, you will move on to the virtual onsite loop, which consists of multiple rounds covering system design, coding, product engineering, and behavioral leadership.

We structure our interviews to mimic real-world engineering scenarios. You will not find brain teasers or trick questions here; instead, you will collaborate with our engineers on practical design problems, code implementations, and architectural discussions.

• Microservices & API Design – Designing clean REST, GraphQL, or gRPC APIs, and managing service-to-service communication.
