My process started with an HR conversation, and then I met with the professor. The early part felt pretty straightforward and familiar—mostly “tell me about yourself,” how my previous experience lined up, and what my MPH experience had involved. When the professor portion came around, I leaned heavily into research details I’d done recently, including my capstone work and the research assistant role I’d held before.
Overall it felt like a normal fit-and-experience conversation rather than anything overly technical. The questions were clearly trying to understand what I’d actually done in school and research, and how that translated into the kind of work the role would expect. It ended without an offer, but I left feeling like I’d been evaluated on my actual research background and not just generalities.
