Difficult Negative Washington, DC

I hit an interview process that started with an online assessment and then moved into a three-round final stage. The technical parts felt demanding enough that I was surprised by how the whole process unfolded, and I ended up in a position where I had an offer.

Right after accepting, I found out my current company was able to match better compensation and offered a raise that beat the Fannie Mae number by about five thousand. I told the recruiter I wanted to see if the offer could be increased, and that request turned into an uncomfortable moment. The recruiter reacted rudely and pushed me to answer immediately rather than discuss adjusting terms.

Average Positive Plano, TX

My process started with video interviews scheduled through WebEx, and it moved in a fairly structured way. I had one round that ran about 45 minutes with technical questions, and then I sat through a second round that was longer and felt more layered—three separate 45-minute segments of technical evaluation along with additional time for behavior and problem solving.

Across the technical parts, the focus leaned hard on Java fundamentals: things like core syntax and concepts, along with OOP, primitives, and general language knowledge. I also saw the expectation that I’d understand AWS services at a basic-to-intermediate level—names like Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, and S3 came up. The difficulty felt average overall, but the variety across the segments made it harder than a single interview because it kept switching between concept checks, communication, and some problem-solving.
