My first step was a one-way video interview. I was given a set of preset prompts—five questions total—with a short time window for each response. The format let me record without pressure, and I could redo my answers multiple times, which made it feel much less stressful than a live call. Still, the experience ended up feeling a bit impersonal to me since there wasn’t any real back-and-forth, and I didn’t get a chance to ask questions.
Overall, it was straightforward and not very challenging. The questions leaned toward general, resume-and-experience-style content, and because the whole thing was asynchronous, it didn’t feel like there was much interaction to build momentum. I finished the recording portion feeling okay about my responses, but disappointed that I couldn’t engage with the interviewers or clarify anything afterward.

Difficult Positive Cambridge, MA
After a recruiter conversation, I moved into a process that felt pretty structured and efficient. The recruiter screen was actually the most focused part to me: instead of getting pulled into a long list of minor questions, the conversation centered on what drove me and why I wanted to join Broad, tied closely to my career goals.
Next I had an interview with the hiring manager, and then things escalated into a longer panel-style session. I ended up in a group interview that lasted about two and a half hours and involved multiple lab members, with me getting time to talk directly with them rather than just answering preset prompts. The overall tone was professional and the team came across as thoughtful in how they evaluated both fit and technical readiness.
