The process I went through turned into a heavy technical and case-based grind. After the early online steps, I reached rounds that felt like true evaluation rather than casual conversation. I was pulled into discussions with detailed valuation thinking, including paper LBO work and lots of valuation metrics with follow-up questions that pushed me into assumptions and scenarios.
One part that stuck out was a Zoom-based LBO model attempt where the whole interaction lagged by several seconds, which made it harder to stay precise and compounded the stress of already being evaluated on the model. On top of that, some interviews included mini cases and structured “how would you deal with this” real-life scenario prompts, where I had to reason through decisions under pressure.

My experience started with early coordination issues, and it honestly made the process feel disrespectful of my time before I even got into interviews. I scheduled an initial recruiter call during an agreed window and then never got the call. After I reached out, I was told the recruiter couldn’t join because they were away for a week, and my details were passed to another recruiter—who then joined late by several minutes.
After that rough start, the interviews themselves were the part that described the role more than the logistics. I went through multiple conversations with analysts, associates, and VPs, and each focused on whether I understood the market, how I approached problem-solving, and whether I would fit with the team. A recurring theme was scenarios and hypothetical questions aimed at stress-testing my logic and decision-making rather than testing narrow memorized facts.
