Difficult Positive India

I did a three-round interview over Teams for the financial analyst role. The first two rounds felt relatively straightforward—most of what I covered was my education and some general finance topics. I remember walking through my background clearly and not feeling like the questions were trying to trick me.

The last round was where it shifted. The main questions focused on stocks, bonds, and insurance, and it felt more targeted and heavier than the early conversations. By the end of that final discussion, I had a clearer sense of how much depth they expected, and I didn’t end up getting an offer. Looking back, I was glad the earlier rounds gave me momentum, but the third round was definitely the real test.

My process ended up being three interviews that were mostly behavioral rather than technical. I also had to complete some basic Excel problems as part of the flow, and that combination helped me understand what they valued—communication, judgment, and practical tooling rather than deep technical finance.

Overall it didn’t feel brutally difficult, but that also made it harder to stand out because the questions weren’t trying to expose weaknesses so much as reveal how I thought and how I carried the conversation. I left each round feeling like I had a fair shot, but the process didn’t result in an offer. The biggest impression I took away was that the bar for differentiation was mostly in how I came across, not in any single technical “gotcha.”
