I started with a chat with a TEKsystems recruiter. After that, about a week later, I got a take-home assignment to build a simple banking command-line interface. It felt like the main gate was whether I could translate basic requirements into working code, not just talk about them.
Once I submitted, the next step was pair programming. I worked through adding new features to the same CLI while talking and coding at the same time, and it was clear they wanted to see how I collaborated in real time. Overall the process felt structured and fairly direct, and I left with the impression they were looking for practical implementation skills more than obscure trivia, even though I didn’t end up receiving an offer.
