Recruiter outreach led to a pretty bespoke process for a software engineer role on a high-autonomy team. The timeline stretched into several technical conversations, and it all culminated in a take-home assignment. The focus felt domain-specific from the start, and I was repeatedly pushed to justify the technical and product decisions behind my approach rather than just explain what I would do.

About a week before things ended, I joined a full-day virtual on-site. It was heavy on both technical and behavioral parts, with multiple interviews running back-to-back. The technical discussions leaned into reasoning—how I’d structure tradeoffs, make calls when requirements weren’t perfectly clean, and defend decisions based on impact. Interspersed were behavioral questions that tried to surface how I operated in ambiguous situations and how I communicated while driving my own work.
