After an initial NQT step at an on-campus drive, I got pulled into the next stage and ended up talking through the standard early questions. My first prompt was a quick “tell me about yourself,” and the conversation centered on the basics around that role and how my background mapped to it. I remember the flow feeling pretty direct: they wanted my story, then they moved into what I could do and how my experience aligned.

I ultimately received an offer for the system engineer trainee path, and that made the whole process feel worth it. Looking back, the biggest thing that stood out was how much the interview leaned on clear fundamentals and the way I connected my resume to what they were asking—less on tricky surprises, more on whether I could articulate my fit with confidence.

My TCS Prime interview lasted about 40–50 minutes, and it was very technical right from the start. The interviewer began with a coding challenge on AVL trees where I had to implement an AVL tree from scratch, including insertion, deletion, search, and the rotations (LL, RR, LR, RL). I couldn’t fully finish the AVL implementation the way I wanted, but I kept explaining my approach while working through it.

After that, the interview moved through several other coding tasks. I wrote a star pattern, implemented a circular queue, and also handled a deletion operation in a binary tree. I was able to solve those and talk through my reasoning clearly. Then we shifted to my resume—there was a project discussion covering what motivated my projects, the technologies used, my individual contributions, and the challenges I ran into.
