The hardest part of my process was the take-home assignment. It involved designing and implementing something Taboola-like, and it took me several days to get through. When I reached the end, I was told the assignment didn’t provide enough signal to understand my qualities or reasoning.
What really left a mark for me was the inconsistency in the feedback about AI usage. They said it was okay to use AI tools, but later feedback implied that using AI was viewed negatively, which put me in a confusing position about what they actually expected. On top of that, communication about feedback felt weak: I didn’t get feedback proactively, and even after requesting it, what I received was minimal.

I interviewed in a sequence where the first technical conversation went really well and the tone felt very good. After that, I got a coding assignment with a turnaround expectation of about six hours, but it actually took me three full days to finish. I submitted it to the person I was instructed to contact and then tried to confirm it had landed.
After a couple of days with no acknowledgment, I followed up by email and then called HR when nothing changed. I was told they’d look into it, but the waiting kept going—two weeks passed with no response or confirmation. Then I received an automated message that the position was no longer available. The way it ended was humiliating and deeply disappointing, especially because I’d already done the work and had no clear reason given.
