After I connected with the team, the process felt tightly coordinated and generally moved stage to stage without much dead air. I went through a recruiter screen first, then a sequence of interviews that stayed pretty consistent in structure. Across the whole loop, the take-home element came in at different points depending on how the sequence was arranged, but it always carried the same vibe: they wanted to see how I approached building something with clear structure, and then they would discuss it with engineers and dig into the design choices. In my case, the take-home didn’t feel like an obstacle course—it was described as a small, scoped task and I had a debrief where we walked through my decisions and architecture. It was frustrating because the rejection came without any real context, and it didn’t even seem consistent in how it was delivered. I couldn’t tell anything about what was lacking or whether the process had advanced at all.
