After a recruiter call, I got pulled into a timed math-oriented process that felt very probability-first. The next step was an OA that was mostly probability math, and it ramped up in difficulty as I went. I didn’t manage my time as well as I should have, and the last few questions ended up being rushed right when they got harder.

A short while later, I went into another interview that blended behavioral questions with technical ones. The technical portion still leaned heavily on probability, rather than jumping into a broad mix of topics. Overall it felt manageable, just a little more pressure because the process expected me to stay consistent even as the math got trickier.

Easy Positive United States

I started with a fairly structured math screening. The OA came first as a CodeSignal assessment with a time limit, focused on programming/algorithmic problems but strongly tied to test-style problem solving under pressure. After that, I moved into interview rounds where the emphasis stayed on probability and clean reasoning, with interviewers wanting me to explain how I thought rather than just land on an answer.

The math itself was built around classic probability and logic themes: Bayes’ rule showed up alongside combinatorics, expected-value style questions, and puzzle-like reasoning. The test had that familiar feel of getting progressively harder, so time management mattered; I also noticed the format pushed me to solve enough early questions to keep going. In the later interview focused on problem solving, I had to talk through my reasoning out loud, handle uncertainty, and adjust when I realized something wasn’t lining up.

What to expect

Distilled from the reports

Online Assessment (OA)

The interview process begins with a timed online assessment focused primarily on probability, logic, and combinatorics, which increases in difficulty. Candidates should prepare for a variety of probability-based questions and manage their time effectively to complete the assessment successfully.

Technical Interviews

Following the OA, candidates participate in technical interviews that emphasize problem-solving, particularly in probability and expected value. Interviewers expect candidates to articulate their thought processes clearly while solving problems under time pressure.

Behavioral and HR Rounds

Initial HR or recruiter calls focus on behavioral questions and fit for the role, often feeling conversational. Candidates should be prepared to discuss their motivations for transitioning into quantitative finance and their background.

Difficulty and Pressure

Candidates report a consistent theme of increasing difficulty throughout the interview process, with a strong emphasis on maintaining composure and accuracy under time constraints. The pressure to perform well escalates, particularly in later rounds.

Feedback and Communication

Candidates often experience a lack of feedback and communication following assessments and interviews, which can lead to frustration. It's important to be prepared for the possibility of limited updates throughout the process.

Final Stages and Superday

In some cases, the process culminates in a superday or multiple back-to-back interviews, which can include a mix of technical and behavioral assessments. Candidates should be ready for a rigorous evaluation across various formats in a condensed timeframe.
