Difficult Negative Toronto, ON

My process ended up feeling painfully long and high-stakes—like even a near-perfect performance wasn’t enough. I went through seven rounds total. The first thing I did was a take-home Hackerrank-style challenge that wasn’t easy, and the problem was designed so each part built on the last, pushing me toward modular code.

After that, I had a virtual call with two interviewers where I completed the coding work again and ran tests; I was honestly surprised that I got everything perfect across the three parts. That success pushed me into a final loop with five rounds. I started with a manager chat, then moved into an API integration round where I used my own IDE and had to work through multiple parts under strict time pressure—autocomplete wasn’t available, which added friction. I only made it through parts one and two, and I didn’t reach part three. The integration portion felt especially brutal because I had to understand the task immediately and execute without mistakes.

Average Neutral Vancouver, BC

I went into Stripe with an expectation that the interview wouldn’t be LeetCode-like and would instead focus on more holistic thinking. During the technical interview, though, the questions looked closer to standard LeetCode patterns than what I had been told.

The structure of my process was still fairly clear: an OA on HackerRank, then a tech screen with multiple linked problems where the time was split across smaller sections. The onsite then stretched into a few rounds: a set of one-hour technical interviews where I saw more linked work and a debugging-focused round.
