Average Negative Boston, MA

I didn’t feel much emotion through the process; it was strictly business and very clipped. They didn’t really kick off with the usual “tell me about yourself” moment, and instead leaned hard into technical questioning. When I tried to ask questions back, they answered in extremely short bursts, like they were trying to keep every response to just a few words.

The interview felt mostly like a barrage of technical checks with one or so situational prompt mixed in. Overall the pace and tone didn’t leave a lot of room to build rapport, and I left with the impression that the focus was less on my narrative and more on whether I could handle the details on the spot. The result was no offer, and the whole experience felt more like an assessment than a conversation.

Easy Negative Sydney

My first call with the recruiter was genuinely unpleasant from the start. She came unprepared, and instead of using the conversation to move things forward, she pushed back on my technical background as if having advanced skills would be a negative for a senior finance role. What really stood out was how much time she spent interrogating my visa status and working rights even though it was clearly listed on my resume.

It ended up feeling unproductive—she basically admitted she didn’t know how the process worked and would have to verify it with local HR. Between the lack of preparation and the tone, the call drained all momentum instead of creating clarity. I wasn’t given an offer, and honestly it left me with a strong negative impression of how the hiring team handled early screening.
