After a recruiter step, I got funneled into an assessment that felt oddly constrained right away. One part asked for an intern who could write in a specific “x” language, but the OA environment limited which languages I could actually use, which made it frustratingly hard to prepare for the exact scenario they were testing.
In the OA itself, I had to jump through a separate site and answer multiple algorithm questions, and they were time-consuming enough that I found myself wishing I’d planned for more practice in that exact format. Another assessment I saw leaned heavily on migration-style work inside a tool where I was asked to migrate a couple of stored procedures to Snowflake, then move on to a behavioral round that was easier than the technical parts—but I still didn’t feel fully ready when it arrived. The AI/ML Intern OA also tested an array rotation problem, and the languages listed for that kind of test were limited to a small set, which added to the feeling that the environment mattered as much as the problem itself.

Average Positive Menlo Park, CA
After the recruiter phone screen, I waited roughly three weeks to hear back, and by that point it felt longer than expected. When the technical part finally came, I ran into a DSA-style question on grouping anagrams where I talked through a hashmap approach and the time complexity as I went.
I felt reasonably prepared for the main prompt, but a follow-up question about Unicode handling rattled me more than I expected. I ended up spending more mental energy than I wanted trying to reason about edge cases instead of focusing on the cleanest solution path.
