Average Negative United States

Recruiter coordination was the part that defined my experience, not the technical content. I had situations where scheduling fell apart—there was silence after the initial screening, and I even got a generic rejection email without any real follow-through on what was supposed to happen next. In another run, the recruiter simply didn’t show up for the screening call even though I was on the Zoom waiting.

I also had the process stall after I’d invested time. One time I completed a take-home that was described as taking several hours, then moved into a presentation/demo stage—after that, the whole thing felt like it just went dark. Another experience was “pass the technical screening” territory, but I never heard back again, and the explanation I eventually got was tied to travel logistics rather than my performance.

Difficult Positive London, England

My process followed a multi-step structure that built toward a more applied, front-of-house kind of interview. Early on, I did recruiter screening and then moved into coding and deeper technical evaluation. The timeline felt like it was moving toward a final panel interview centered on a case study tied to a client problem they’d faced before.

In the later stage, I had to do a demo and then answer follow-up questions about how I would approach that client situation—so it wasn’t only about getting the “right” technical answer, it was about communicating it clearly and showing enough engineering skill to make the solution believable. Before that, I had at least one live coding and one system design-style round, including a hard systems design question.
