What is a UX/UI Designer at Snap?
A UX/UI Designer at Snap—often hired under titles such as Core Product Designer or Senior Designer—is responsible for shaping the future of communication, self-expression, and augmented reality. Unlike traditional design roles that focus solely on standard web or mobile layouts, designers at Snap work on a highly dynamic, camera-centric platform. Your work will directly impact how hundreds of millions of daily active users interact with the Snapchat app, including core features like the Camera, Chat, Maps, Stories, Spotlight, and Bitmoji, as well as cutting-edge hardware initiatives like Spectacles.
In this role, you will balance playful, highly interactive user experiences with deep utility and technical optimization. Snap values designers who can think past conventional UI patterns to create experiences that feel natural, tactile, and immediate. The scale of the platform means that even minor design iterations can significantly shift user behavior, making data-informed product thinking and high-fidelity execution critical competencies for anyone joining the team.
As a designer here, you will not work in a silo. You will collaborate daily with cross-functional partners, including Product Managers, Software Engineers, Data Scientists, and occasionally hardware teams like Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical Engineering (EE), and Industrial Design (ID). Your ability to translate complex technical constraints—such as device processing power, camera latency, or hardware limitations—into elegant, intuitive user flows is what defines a successful designer at Snap.
