
San Francisco State University (SFSU) has an enrollment of about 24,000 undergraduate and some 6,000 graduate students. It's faculty numbers approximately 1,700. SFSU offers more than 110 bachelor's, nearly 100 master's, and four doctorate degree programs. It also offers about 30 credential and some 35 certificate programs. The university was founded in 1899 as a teachers college, the San Francisco State Normal School, and graduated its first class, 36 women, in 1901.
