My recruiter call was followed by a technical screen that was very focused on JavaScript concurrency and async behavior. The first part asked me to reason about outputs using the event loop in JavaScript runtimes. Then I implemented promiseAll. After that, I built a higher-order component that waited on promise-based props and passed the resolved values through to a component.

Across the rounds, the vibe was pretty direct: no warm-up chatter, no discussion of my background—just straight into timed riddle-style questions. Even when the topics sounded familiar at a concept level, they were the kind of async mechanics that don’t come up in day-to-day work in the exact same form, and I felt the pressure of getting syntax and reasoning correct quickly.

My first contact was with a recruiter through LinkedIn, and it started out normally enough—there was a call and I was told I’d get scheduling details soon. After that, I waited for the Skype interview and it never happened. I tried reaching out directly, sent multiple emails to ask whether the interview had been rescheduled, and I didn’t get a real response. The whole thing felt unprofessional, and it left me with a bad taste even before the technical side could begin.

In another part of the experience, I also ran into the same kind of communication problems after completing a recruiter-requested assessment. I took a test that was described as easy, but I never received the promised follow-up. When I reached out, I was told they hadn’t received the test results and nobody asked me to retake it; eventually the application was closed without feedback.
