Easy Positive San Francisco, CA

My first technical interview with Scale was pretty smooth, and the interviewer was genuinely friendly and supportive over a virtual call. The technical part ended up being a simple, poker-themed coding question. Even though the vibe felt positive, I still panicked because it was my very first technical interview ever, so I didn’t perform as well as I’d hoped. Looking back, though, it was the kind of interview where the other person made it easy to stay calm, and the overall experience felt encouraging rather than hostile.

Average Negative United States

After a solid recruiter lead-in and what felt like decent prep from them, I reached the final stage, which involved a lot of interviews in sequence. The experience was mixed: some interviewers seemed distracted or disorganized, and the pacing made it feel drawn out. By the time I finished the final loop, I expected at least a clear next step.

Instead, I got silence. About a week had passed since I completed the final round when I reached out again to the recruiting coordinator, but I still didn’t receive any word either way. There was also no debrief after the interviews, which was the most surprising part—everything felt like it ended without closure. I didn’t get an offer, and I left the process feeling frustrated more than anything.

Distilled from the reports

Interview Structure & Timeline

The interview process typically starts with a recruiter screening, followed by a technical coding round, and culminates in a series of interviews that include both technical and behavioral components. Candidates noted that the overall pacing varied, with some experiencing a drawn-out sequence of interviews while others found it more compact and organized.

Technical Coding Focus

Candidates reported that technical interviews often emphasized implementation-heavy coding tasks rather than traditional algorithm challenges, with questions involving real-world scenarios like card games or task scheduling. The expectation was to demonstrate coding skills under time pressure while managing multiple constraints.

Behavioral & Values Alignment

Behavioral interviews were integrated throughout the process, focusing on candidates' past experiences and thought processes rather than just assessing technical skills. This aspect was generally perceived as a way to gauge cultural fit and collaboration skills.
