I got reached out by a recruiter and ended up moving through the process without much direction on what to expect. The first interview itself felt like it went pretty well, but then it went quiet for about two weeks. When I finally heard back, the recruiter wanted to move forward—except the sales manager who was supposed to attend the first round never joined. For the next meeting, I sat in a Teams call waiting for around 25 minutes and had to chase the recruiter and HR because nobody showed.
The following day, I was told they were “changing gears” and shifting focus to hiring in another location. The whole thing felt comically unprofessional, and the momentum never really recovered after that no-show pattern.

Average Positive Atlanta, GA
The early rounds felt more like a consultative conversation than a strict interrogation. I talked through my past work and we dug into my strengths and weaknesses, along with what drove me to stay in this field. There was a forward-looking focus too—how I could see myself developing over the next few years at Sage and what that meant day to day.
As the process continued, the questions leaned toward immediate impact. I remember being asked what I’d do in my first few weeks, including how I would learn from others, and there was even a small side presentation on a Sage product. The conversations also explored how I’d handle difficult conversations, what worked versus what didn’t in past sales situations, and how I manage longer sales cycles. It was heavier on “how you think” than on vague culture talk, and that made it feel genuinely demanding.
