My Rupeek SDE 3 process took about three weeks end to end, and it felt pretty structured: four rounds, with a strong emphasis on data structures and design. After I applied, I moved through an initial coding/assessment phase and then hit a DSA interview where I worked through medium-level problems like coin change and also things in the style of trapping rain water. The Java/Spring/REST API–flavored round showed up as well as some fundamentals and design-decision style questions, which made it feel less purely algorithmic.

Next came the design rounds. One part was low-level design using a health-app style scenario, where I had to lay out how the system would work at the component level. Then there was high-level design for a smart-home device, where the discussion pushed me to explain tradeoffs and overall architecture rather than just implementation details. The final round was more techno-managerial, focused on how I reasoned about prior projects—what I built, why it mattered, and how I approached decisions.

My Rupeek interview experience was short and mostly focused on DSA followed by a resume check. First, I went through a round with two DSA questions, covering topics like trees and sliding window, and it felt on the easier side for me—just enough to show problem-solving without being overwhelming. After that, I received the link for the next round.

The second round was more of a conversation based on my resume. I had to answer questions that connected directly to what I listed, so instead of getting brand-new problems, I spent the time explaining my background and decisions behind my projects.

Interview Structure & Timeline

The interview process typically consists of 2 to 4 rounds, starting with an online assessment followed by technical interviews focused on DSA and design. The overall timeline ranges from a couple of weeks to a month, depending on the candidate's progression through the rounds.

Data Structures & Algorithms (DSA) Focus

Candidates can expect a strong emphasis on DSA, with questions covering topics like trees, arrays, and dynamic programming, often ranging from easy to medium difficulty. The DSA rounds are crucial for demonstrating problem-solving skills and coding proficiency.

System & Low-Level Design

Interviews include low-level design questions where candidates may be asked to design systems or components, such as a parking lot or a health app, requiring them to explain trade-offs and system behavior. This aspect tests both design thinking and technical depth.

Managerial & Behavioral Rounds

Candidates will likely face a managerial round focused on discussing past projects and decisions, emphasizing ownership and thought processes rather than just technical skills. This round assesses cultural fit and communication abilities.

SQL and Database Questions

Some interviews incorporate SQL questions, testing candidates' understanding of database concepts and their ability to handle data-related challenges. This round may vary in complexity but is generally seen as less intense than DSA rounds.

Candidate Experience & Feedback

Overall, candidates report a structured and organized interview process, though some found the difficulty levels inconsistent. Many candidates felt that the experience was manageable, but they wished they had prepared more for the breadth of topics covered.
