I was first contacted by a recruiter and the initial phone call felt pretty straightforward and easy. It was mostly about confirming who I was and my resume, and there were also practical details like the role being in Normal, Illinois with relocation support—either they handled everything or offered a lump sum with a $10K structure.

The next step was a hiring manager interview over Zoom. It was conversational and more of a general discussion mixed with basic interview questions. The hiring manager walked through expectations for the job and what they were looking for, and the emphasis was very clear: being strong at SQL was a must, with the ability to contribute to code and also communicate well since the role was customer-facing. They also mentioned tools and preferences like Tableau, plus certifications and familiarity with source control.
