Interviewing at Revature
What the process looks like, and what Revature is really testing for.
You go through a fairly structured hiring loop that mixes screening with technical interviews and then an HR step. Across roles, the technical parts emphasize programming fundamentals and problem solving, and at least some candidates also see questions tied to business analysis and ambiguous requirements handling.
What they test is your ability to reason through problems and convert vague or incomplete inputs into clear requirements, then implement using the core language and engineering concepts they prioritize. The extracted topic data highlights SQL, OOP, ambiguous requirements handling, logic and analytical thinking, and interview coverage for technical interviewing and business analysis.
Expect a multi-round process that can span several weeks, plus additional training pipeline steps after acceptance in some paths. Candidate reports explicitly describe pre-placement flow where assessment leads into training, and then client matching or placement waitlists occur after training performance, with no guarantee of placement noted by at least one candidate.
The most non-obvious part is that for some candidates the outcome depends as much on training performance and post-acceptance steps as on the initial interview. Multiple reports describe training pipeline and client matching happening afterward, so your interview answers are only one gate in the larger process.
The Revature interview process
5 stages, based on 500 candidate reports.
Resume screening and recruiter screening
Varies (days to shortly before assessments)You start with screening to evaluate your qualifications and fit, using resume review and a recruiter or phone screening step. Prepare to discuss your background and comfort with the role focus, and be ready for a basic fit conversation.
Online assessment or phone or online assessment
VariesSome roles include a phone or online assessment step, described as a technical assessment that filters for readiness. Candidate reports also mention async aptitude or coding-style evaluations that gate entry into the training track in some paths.
Technical interviews and technical interview rounds
Multiple rounds over several weeksYou go through one or more technical interviews focused on programming language fundamentals, problem solving, and technical knowledge. The extracted topic coverage emphasizes SQL, OOP, ambiguous requirements handling and converting ambiguity to requirements, plus logical and analytical thinking and technical interviewing.
HR interview round and behavioral questions
Final round timing variesYou then complete an HR interview or HR round that includes behavioral questions and cultural fit. Reports describe a final check around goals and alignment, plus opportunities to ask questions in an open dialogue step in at least one candidate report.
Post-acceptance training pipeline (only if you pass earlier gates)
Over a couple of months in some reportsIn candidate reports that describe acceptance, training happens after earlier interview and assessment steps. These reports include unpaid training and then offline training, with client matching or placement waitlists described after training performance, and at least one report explicitly notes lack of placement guarantee.
