After a recruiter call on Zoom, where the interviewer kept their camera off, I was sent a link to complete an online coding assessment. It used HackerRank, so I had to move from the initial screening straight into the timed platform experience.
A short while later, I went through a total of three interview rounds overall. The first was with HR, then I met the team lead, and the last round was the team lead plus some members of the team. Across the process, the difficulty felt fairly typical for a software engineer loop—nothing wildly unusual, but it was clearly meant to separate people based on both communication and practical coding ability. I ultimately wasn’t selected, and the overall feel was that it was a standard, structured process rather than an exceptionally stressful one.

Average Positive Newark, NJ
My process started with a HireVue-style behavioral round, focusing on both my experience and how I came across—almost like they were checking my interest and consistency. After that, I progressed into a broader behavioral interview and then a technical interview.
For the behavioral parts, I was asked leadership-oriented questions and I used the STAR format to structure my answers. The technical interview was easy-to-medium LeetCode, and Python was the language I used. Even though I wasn’t selected, the journey itself felt coherent: the first screening got me in the door, and then the later rounds tested whether my communication and coding matched what the role would require. I left feeling like I understood the expectations, even though I didn’t make it past the end of the loop.
