1. What is a Systems Engineer at PlayStation?
As a Systems Engineer (or TechOps System Administrator) at PlayStation, you are at the heart of the infrastructure that powers the global gaming ecosystem. You are responsible for maintaining the large-scale Linux-based hardware fleet and the Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) platforms that support everything from PlayStation Studios development environments to the services enjoyed by millions of players worldwide.
This role is critical to the stability and performance of Sony Interactive Entertainment. You will act as a bridge between complex technical systems and the internal teams that rely on them. Your work involves not just maintaining uptime and troubleshooting via the Linux CLI, but also collaborating with Service Reliability Engineers (SREs) to proactively identify recurring issues and deploy automated fixes. It is a fast-paced environment where your ability to translate technical complexity into clear, actionable support is as important as your command of Bash scripting and Kubernetes.
