My experience started with an interview with the hiring manager, and things quickly turned chaotic. After that initial conversation, the parameters of the role seemed to change on the fly: what I was told would be a full-time position became a contract role instead, and I felt pressure to pivot and apply under the new framing.
I agreed to continue anyway. After completing a demanding interview loop and feeling like I performed exceptionally well, I was rejected at the end due to something that was described as a misunderstanding tied to my visa status. I had stated clearly from the beginning that I didn’t require sponsorship, so it felt like a preventable administrative issue rather than something tied to my skills.

Average Neutral Los Angeles, CA
I applied through the PlayStation website and heard back quickly from a recruiter by email and phone. The process felt short and straightforward: after the initial outreach, I had a first-round technical interview scheduled and went in expecting a normal screening.
The technical conversation went well, and I felt like I communicated clearly throughout. But I didn’t get moved to the next round afterward. The only explanation I could guess was that the team may have been prioritizing someone local, since I was in New Jersey while the role location was in Los Angeles, California.
