After I talked with the recruiter, the process moved quickly into structured technical work. A day-to-a-few-days rhythm set in: I did a technical screen with clear, straightforward prompts about my experience, then later I was given a longer coding take-home. After the take-home, the conversation turned into a review of my solution, followed by more basic technical questions that probed fundamentals and how I approached the problem.
Next came the manager/behavior side. I went through a longer manager discussion that mixed behavioral questions with additional technical follow-ups, and it felt like they wanted to connect how I’d answered earlier questions to how I actually work. In the overall arc, the difficulty leaned harder toward the written/coding component, and the process felt like it was taking its time to fully validate both my coding and my communication.

Average Positive United States
My first step was a recruiter conversation that felt genuinely engaging and positive, and it set the tone for me—at least at the start. Shortly after, I met with the hiring manager for a very thorough review of my technical background and experiences. The manager even brought up specific topics they expected to see, which made the prep feel more grounded.
Then the technical interview landed, and that’s where the vibe shifted. I ended up with two engineers running parts of the session, and one of them didn’t seem present. The interview started off unwelcoming, and I wasn’t given much warm context about the skill set they were evaluating. Instead, I got hit with random-feeling questions and it quickly became clear they weren’t happy with my answers—pushing rudely and moving through material that didn’t match what I’d been told to study. After more than an hour, the hiring manager came back and effectively ended it.
