This process started with an online assessment delivered through Karat. I was immediately put into a LeetCode-style medium challenge set—what stuck with me was that the problems heavily leaned on matrices, with implementation being the core work. There wasn’t a lot of room for wandering; I needed to focus on actually building the solution.
Time became the problem. I completed two of the questions, but I ran out of time before I could finish everything. What made it harder than it should’ve been was the way the interviewer spent a disproportionate amount of time explaining and asking questions that felt trivial rather than useful, so I had less time to write code than I expected. By the time I got to the next question, I felt squeezed.

Average Positive United States
A recruiter reached out and the whole process moved along pretty quickly—about a few weeks end to end. I started with a standard code screen, then later I did an onsite in Mountain View. The hiring manager stood out to me as genuinely sharp, and the recruiter interaction was the kind that felt caring rather than transactional; they stayed pleasant and even shared constructive feedback about how the interviews went.
The coding parts followed a pretty typical pattern for this kind of process, but what I remember most was the tone. Everything felt organized, and I wasn’t left wondering what was going on behind the scenes. I didn’t end up with an offer, but I walked away feeling like I’d been taken seriously and treated like my career actually mattered, which honestly was a relief.
