After a recruiter call, I had a couple of follow-up conversations on the phone where the tone felt pretty relaxed and mostly about getting to know me and how I fit. The questions were fairly standard, and because I’d done the role before, I ended up getting into more specific details rather than vague, “scripted” prompts. Overall it felt like they were checking whether I could explain my experience clearly and whether I’d be comfortable working directly with clients.
Next, I moved into an in-person step. I sat down with a group of interviewers and we talked through my background and how I planned to gather clients. There was also discussion around what would make me stand out to future clients and how I handled dilemmas. The process felt structured around budgeting/client-related context, and it was also clear they wanted people who were ready for the day-to-day expectations, not just passing interest.

In one phone screen, the interviewer made up their mind extremely fast and didn’t really respond to what I was saying, basically deciding I wouldn’t be a fit within minutes.
