Difficult Negative Toronto, ON

One part of the process felt off from the start: they asked me to record a video myself and send it to the hiring manager before I even had a live interview. It struck me as a very questionable approach and it changed the way I felt about the whole process right away. After that, I still moved into a more traditional technical sequence, but the initial “video yourself” step made everything feel more like a gatekeeping exercise than a fair assessment.

Once the technical work began, the interview path turned more serious. I had a coding assessment style step where I attempted multiple questions and got shortlisted, then I faced back-to-back technical rounds and a director stage that involved both behavioral prompts and revisiting the coding problem by rewriting it to satisfy all test cases. The technical load was demanding and time-consuming, and I didn’t hear anything after the final conversation.
