What is a Software Engineer at Oceaneering?
A Software Engineer at Oceaneering does not write typical consumer-facing applications. Instead, you will develop, verify, and maintain software that operates in some of the most extreme environments known to humanity. From deep-sea Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) to NASA spacecraft systems and commercial spaceflight programs, your code will directly control physical systems where failure is not an option.
In this role, you will work at the intersection of hardware and software, collaborating closely with mechanical, aerospace, and systems engineers. Whether you are working on the JETS II contract supporting NASA Johnson Space Center, developing real-time control algorithms for subsea robotics, or writing safety-critical flight software, your contributions will ensure operational reliability, safety-rating compliance, and mission success.
To succeed here, you must possess a unique blend of software rigor, physical system intuition, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Oceaneering values self-starters who are genuinely curious about how complex machines work and who can write clean, efficient code that interfaces seamlessly with sensors, actuators, and telemetry systems.
