After a recruiter step, I had interviews where the format felt fairly standard and straightforward: a manager conversation with a resume walkthrough, plus more technical discussion that leaned into how I would work through the problems. I came in feeling confident about my ability to explain my approach and tie it back to my background, and the interviews themselves went smoothly enough that the overall rejection surprised me.
In my case, the process didn’t feel like a long, drawn-out grind, but it did end without selection after multiple rounds where the questions were quite hard to answer. Some prompts even felt more basic than what I expected for the role, which threw me off—especially because I could tell I was communicating well.

Difficult Negative United States
This process felt messy and hard to track. I ended up in many rounds, and the final interview for me was extremely long—around six hours. A lot of the scheduling shifted late, with interviews being rescheduled at the last minute, and one session where the interviewer simply didn’t show up at all.
What made it especially frustrating was that much of the material felt generic and didn’t connect closely to the role or my actual expertise. By the time the marathon of interviews finished, I felt like the process wasn’t respecting my time or focusing on the job.
