I went through a compact process that still felt very hands-on technically. The rounds leaned on Java and Spring Boot details pretty heavily, alongside database understanding, and then shifted into applied questions that sounded like a mix of coding-style logic and real engineering concepts.

One of the most memorable parts was the focus on practical building blocks: explaining multithreading, how streams work, and how REST APIs show up in a Spring Boot context, including common Spring Boot annotations. Databases also came up directly, including database optimization topics. Another technical round tested SQL and DBMS concepts like indexing and even concurrency-adjacent topics such as deadlocks, plus straightforward DSA questions like sorting.

My first round was a virtual interview that tested my React and Python concepts. After that, I went to Nomura’s Mumbai office for an in-person second round, and the questions were built from my resume—more detailed and anchored in how I’d described my experience.

I felt confident answering, and I left the interviews thinking it had gone well. But later I was rejected without any feedback or clarification, even after I tried to follow up multiple times. The process itself wasn’t described as unusually difficult, yet the lack of closure was what stuck with me the most. I didn’t receive an offer.
