Difficult Negative United States

It took me years to finally get an interview call, and honestly the waiting period was so long that I’d forgotten which role I originally applied for. The only reason I ended up getting pulled into the process was that a friend of mine worked there, which made the timeline feel even more unusual.

Once I finally got the chance, the main thing I carried with me was how disconnected I felt from my own original application at the start. The process itself didn’t erase that early confusion, but reaching the interview stage after such a drawn-out gap was definitely the standout part of the journey.

Difficult Positive Los Altos, CA

I started with a recruiter call that was mainly meant to get to know me. Then I had an engineering manager conversation that was technical—focused on my previous work across distributed systems, which made it feel grounded in real engineering rather than just generic background questions.

After that, there was a technical phone screen where they let me know afterward that they were continuing with other candidates. That detail was a little jarring because it came right after the screen, before there was much time to hope.
