I went through several rounds that felt structured but never got to a clean finish. It started with a recruiter call, then I had a hiring manager call, followed by a panel with three interviewers. After that came an additional interview, and then there was supposed to be a final recruiter debrief.
What made the experience sour was the way it ended: after the last interview stage, I was ghosted before the final debrief and never received closure. I kept waiting because the process had been moving along, but it simply stopped.

Difficult Neutral Los Gatos, CA
Early on, things felt promising. Communication was decent at first, and I passed the first round. Then the process stalled—after that, I basically got ghosted for about two weeks. It turned out later that a stronger candidate emerged, and I felt like I’d been set aside.
Eventually they reached back out and apologized, and that helped a little, but by then I was already worn down from investing so much time and emotion into the process. The part that stayed with me wasn’t just the wait, it was the regret of how I managed my other conversations during the gap.
