A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn and set up an initial technical discussion for about 30 minutes with two people. One interviewer started with a short company intro, then the conversation jumped straight into technical questioning without really giving me time to settle into a personal introduction. The second interviewer asked a dense mix of topics—Java, thread-safety, the reactive paradigm, data structures, and cloud-related questions.

It felt oddly cold and detached. The questions landed more like academic, low-level trivia than something grounded in how you’d apply the concepts day to day, like how you’d actually use something rather than memorizing exactly how it works internally. I wasn’t very prepared for that style of questioning, and when the interview finished I had a strong sense I’d misread what they were looking for.

After a coding test, I moved into a video interview, which felt like the most important step of the process. The coding portion was described as fairly simple, and by the time I got to the video interview I felt more ready because I could practice before recording and answering. There was also mention of VAC, and it seemed straightforward as long as I had prepared.

What stood out was the timeline: I didn’t hear much immediately after the test. About 1.5 months later I got a call for the VAC, and then roughly two weeks after that I received an offer. Overall it felt like a process that moved on its own schedule, with the video stage doing most of the work in setting expectations.

Timeline & Communication

The overall process can be lengthy, with candidates experiencing delays between stages, particularly after assessments. Clear communication about the timeline and next steps can vary, and candidates should be prepared for a potentially drawn-out decision-making period.
