Easy Positive New York, NY

After I applied online, I went into interviews that were visibly more structured and a bit more demanding than the typical conversational flow. I started with a round scheduled with an associate that was relatively relaxed—just a short, easygoing discussion to understand my fit and experience. That part didn’t feel intimidating.

But then the process shifted into something more assessment-heavy. I ran into a longer online assessment with multiple parts focused on attention to detail, followed by an HR phone screening. The HR call was fairly standard in length, and it came with a separate Excel test that was part of the same stage. Later, I had an online interview with the hiring manager, which felt like it was trying to tie everything together.

I had an employee referral drive things initially: I spoke with someone who referred me, and then HR asked about which placement groups I preferred—corporate advisory or leveraged finance. A week later I went through two first-round, 30-minute interviews with a small group of people from the teams I’d selected, and the interviews felt more like normal conversations than intense grilling.

After that, another week passed and I got pulled into an additional interview with two MDs. The next week HR followed up about an offer, and I was given just a few days to accept, which made the whole thing feel fast and decisive once it started. My questions stayed mostly behavioral, and I remember being relieved that they didn’t go very technical; the focus was more on how I talked about my outlook and background.
