Average Positive Aberdeen, MD

My process kicked off with a phone screen, then moved into a 45-minute presentation. After that, I had three interviews back-to-back, and I also went on a facility tour as part of the overall flow.

The day itself felt like a genuine introduction to the team and the kind of thinking they valued. I got to talk to a lot of smart people and it was easy to ask questions and stay engaged. That’s part of why the rejection hit so hard afterward—it didn’t feel like a mismatch in terms of effort or curiosity.

After applying online, I received a quick call from the hiring manager and within minutes the conversation turned into scheduling an onsite interview. I agreed to come a few weeks later, and the setup was a little unusual because the group was in a non-descript building away from the main MITRE campus.

I met with HR and the hiring manager, gave a presentation, and interviewed with the group via VTC and tele-connection. The technology itself became the distraction: they couldn’t get the VTC to work reliably, and it dropped while I was talking with team members, which made the experience feel awkward rather than smooth.
