Difficult Positive Boston, MA

From the beginning, the tone of my interviews felt hostile rather than collaborative. In one stage, it felt like a group panel approach where people would throw questions at me and the room energy was intensely tense—almost like I was being judged more than interviewed. The pressure showed; I left that session stressed rather than energized.

I also had a different interview where the interviewer came across as rude and even condescending. The conversation included oddly phrased questions that felt like they were trying to measure whether I understood basic interview mechanics rather than evaluating my technical depth—like asking whether I knew how to do a presentation. There was also some friction around the onsite plan, including a mismatch between what was requested and what they implied they could actually offer.

Average Positive Bedford, MA

After a recruiter screen, I had about a week of waiting before the next step. The process moved into a remote interview where I talked with the hiring side on video, and then I went to an in-person round. The in-person part included a formal presentation—around 30 to 45 minutes—where I was allowed to choose the project topic, and the expectation was that I could connect it back to the role. The whole stretch felt structured and fairly high-stakes because it was panel-style and stretched for several hours, with the presentation slot baked into the schedule.

The technical difficulty felt manageable overall, but there was a clear sense that fit mattered. I didn’t get the impression they were trying to trip me up with weird questions; it was more standard background and role-related discussion, with extra emphasis on whether my chosen presentation aligned closely enough. There was also a concrete “day-of” experience component—people toured labs and office spaces—so it felt like they were evaluating both my communication and how I’d operate around the work environment.
