After a recruiter call, I ended up with what they called a loop interview: three straight technical rounds, each about 45 minutes, with short 15-minute breaks between. The day felt pretty structured and continuous, and I was speaking with people across levels—ranging from peers to leaders a couple layers above.

Each round covered a mix of things. I had to talk through my technical skills, handle consulting-style questions about how I’d work and communicate, and then there was a cultural-fit conversation tied to Microsoft’s value around learning and growing. It wasn’t just about getting the “right” answer; I could tell they were listening for how I thought and how consistently I could explain my reasoning from round to round.

Before things ended, the technical topics I saw leaned toward basic cloud concepts, but the interview emphasis shifted toward customer-facing concerns. The questions were less about raw engineering trivia and more about customer obsession and how to think through sales channels.

I didn’t get the offer because I didn’t perform as well on that customer-facing interview segment. Even though the process included cloud-related basics, it was clearly the customer-focused part that became the deciding factor.
