My interview was structured in a more unusual way. After the initial application stage, they treated it like two separate processes: I had a group activity where I worked through a problem statement and created a project-style solution, and then I went into an in-person interview with a panel of six people.

The group format was a real collaboration exercise rather than just Q&A, and it pushed me to translate a problem into a coherent approach. After that, the face-to-face panel focused on requirements they had set and used that group discussion as context for how I thought and communicated.

My early process ended after an HR conversation, and it wasn’t because of anything technical. I had an initial screening that was essentially to check fit, then the conversation stopped there.

In one case, the company had expectations around being in person, and I was looking for remote or hybrid work. We talked and it was a nice, straightforward conversation, but it just wasn’t a match, so they didn’t continue. In the other situation, the HR screening ended because they required someone local for in-person work and weren’t doing virtual work for that office.
