I interviewed for a frontend Software Engineer role at LinkedIn and ended up going through seven rounds. Most of the rounds felt like they went well as conversations and tasks progressed, so it was disappointing when I wasn’t selected at the end.
What I remember most was the sheer length of the process—seven rounds—and the way the outcome didn’t match the overall feeling of momentum I had during the interviews. I didn’t receive an offer, and I was left thinking about how much can ride on the final stage even when earlier discussions feel positive.

The exercises were different but both centered on async coding and they tested whether I really understood promises. There was also an emphasis on working with databases, so the coding wasn’t just about control flow—it had to integrate practical data handling.
Because they were async, the challenge was staying structured without the immediate back-and-forth you get in a live conversation. I had to manage the problem, implement the solution, and make sure the promise handling and database interaction were correct.
