After a recruiter-type intro, I had a machine-coding round where I had to build an inventory system “live” within an hour. The whole thing felt smooth and the interviewer was polite, but the pace was real: the emphasis was on getting the core implementation working end to end, especially the APIs behaving correctly rather than just talking through ideas.

I ended up spending the session developing and wiring the system under the time constraint, and it felt like the interview was designed to mirror the kind of engineering work I’d actually do. The experience was less about trick questions and more about whether I could execute the requested functionality within the given timeframe, with the interviewer staying focused on implementation quality.

My process started with an online assessment for the SDE-II role on Unberry. It was proctored with my camera and mic on, and the total time window was about 60–80 minutes. There were seven levels, so it felt structured and step-by-step from the beginning.

The first level was Java and Spring programming focused MCQs—17 questions with around 15 minutes allotted. After that, I had a spoken test where I went through Java interview-style questions, still centered on Java and Spring programming concepts. Overall, it felt like a mix of coding knowledge checks and verbal reasoning, and I had to stay alert the whole time because the rounds came in quick succession.
