KPMG Interview Guide
Everything we know about interviewing at KPMG: the process stage by stage, what each round tests, and reports from candidates who interviewed.
Interviewing at KPMG
What the process looks like, and what KPMG is really testing for.
KPMG interviews candidates through a structured, multi-touch pipeline that mixes recruiter screening, HR and behavioral conversations, and multiple technical and case-based evaluations. Several roles report panel or team-oriented interviews, and at least some candidates also experience group exercises to test how you communicate and work with others.
Across the topic data you should expect SQL and Python, plus heavy emphasis on data modeling, risk management, and related technical case work. For consulting-style fit and execution, the most prominent soft-skill topic is problem solving, and you should also be ready for teamwork and collaboration and for case study analysis, business case work, and STAR-method style behavioral answers.
Difficulty in candidate reports skews medium, with the overall offer rate reported as 0.0%. Reported timelines vary a lot, ranging from faster multi-day flows in some reports to longer processes described as about three months, and you should plan for sequential evaluation steps where each stage builds on earlier screening results.
The interview content is strongly case-led and reasoning-focused, with case analysis and case presentations appearing alongside technical checks like SQL, Python, and (for relevant tracks) Microsoft Sentinel and VaR.
The KPMG interview process
5 stages, based on 499 candidate reports.
Initial Screening (recruiter and HR)
VariesYou start with an initial screening step that includes a structured questionnaire administered by a recruiter and HR assessing your background and motivation. Reports also mention psychometric or technical assessments as part of early filtering.
Technical Assessments and Technical Rounds
VariesYou move into technical evaluation rounds, including in-depth technical discussions and multiple rounds that focus on technical skills. Some reports also describe live coding, home tasks, or system design discussions as part of the technical rounds, and the topic mix includes SQL and Python, plus case-led technical work.
Case Study Presentation and/or Case Study Round
VariesYou may be asked to complete a take-home or live case study presentation and/or an additional case round analyzing a real-world scenario. Candidate reports describe case-led middle rounds and exhibit-based preparation, so prepare to structure your thinking and communicate it clearly.
Behavioral / HR and Panel or Group Exercises
VariesYou also get behavioral and HR interviews focused on alignment with company values, and some roles report panel interviews with management. Group exercises and teamwork-focused evaluation appear in the reported steps and in the topic mix, so you should be ready for collaborative communication.
Final Round, including Partner-Level Interviews (where applicable)
VariesThere can be a final round that focuses on high-level business case studies and cultural alignment, and some reports include interviews with senior partners. Some candidates also describe additional senior-manager conversations as later steps after earlier case or technical rounds.
