My journey started when I got pulled into a technical round after applying with a referral. The first conversation was with the manager, and it centered on checking my technical skills and overall fit based on my background. After that, I moved into the technical interviews.

The process was relatively smooth from a flow perspective—there was one technical round and one behavioral round. The technical part was focused on a single question and felt easier than I’d braced for. The behavioral round was more about my experience and how familiar I was with my coding language background rather than anything overly tricky.

My interview content was heavily networking-oriented, and the emphasis was on covering a wide spread of networking fundamentals and how systems behave in real situations. I expected questions around the OSI model, TCP/IP, subnetting, and addressing—stuff that forces you to be precise about how packets and concepts map to the stack.

The rounds also leaned into router and switch configuration topics like routing tables and VLAN understanding. Beyond that, protocols and services came up—TCP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, and even NAT and VPN-related ideas. Security was a big thread too, including how firewalls behave, encryption, and defenses like intrusion detection/prevention.
