My process shifted into something more intense after the initial screening. I did a VP round that felt like a direct, fairly deep conversation, around 45 minutes, followed by another 45 minutes with an Executive Director. Those rounds combined a mix of topics that ranged from technical fundamentals to market awareness and classic behavioral prompts, and they also included brain-teaser style questions.
What surprised me was how much the questions tried to test real understanding rather than just memorized finance vocabulary. I was asked items rooted in financial modeling/finance mechanics at a level that felt hard enough to require composure, and the interviewer also drilled into details from my resume to confirm I truly understood what I’d written. I remember feeling pressure in the way questions were sequenced and followed up, especially when I was expected to connect “why this role/why IB” to how I actually work through problems.

Difficult Negative London, England
The process for me followed a fairly standard arc: I went through a HireVue after an initial CV screening, then advanced to an assessment-style final round where an offer followed quickly after the later stage. The timeline stretched from around September into December, but the actual steps felt straightforward—first the recorded interview, then moving ahead once that was cleared.
In the HireVue, I was asked general prompts focused on fit—things like why the company and why the role—along with personal background. The later stages came after that, and by the time I reached the final step, the process felt like it was already narrowing in on decisions rather than exploring options.
