After applying online, I went through a resume screen and then had a first technical round. It was my first quant-style interview, and I felt the nerves hit hard enough that I didn’t answer as smoothly as I wanted to. I didn’t move forward after that first round.
Later, I entered through a program that placed me directly into interviews. I ended up with two technical rounds on Zoom, each about 45 minutes. The first round felt noticeably easier than the second, and the interviewers were very considerate—really focused on whether I could succeed even when I stumbled. I didn’t get past the second round, but the overall tone was supportive rather than harsh.

Difficult Positive New York, NY
My process started with several Zoom interviews—three technical rounds before a superday. Every interview leaned heavily on probability and game thinking, framed around games the interviewers presented. In the first round, the games felt more straightforward and closer to deterministic setups, but the later rounds ramped up quickly with more randomness and heavier game theory.
By the time I reached the rounds where the game structure was more open-ended, I had to optimize outcomes like maximizing profit or minimizing loss, and I had to keep track of my own approach as the difficulty increased. The interviewer’s hints were limited; if I got stuck, I still had to show how I was reasoning and how I was tracking the moving pieces. I also remember the conversations being centered on expected value and how to formulate a strategy under uncertainty.
